Hi, I’m Kayla — welcome to KC Compton Living.

I’ve always loved seeing the potential in a space and figuring out how to make it feel more like home. Over the years, my husband and I have renovated homes, worked on flips, upgraded our new construction homes, and tackled countless DIY projects along the way.

Our current home started as a new construction house, and since moving in, we’ve been slowly making it our own—adding character, color and personality one project at a time. From board and batten and room makeovers to kids’ spaces, outdoor projects and those little builder-grade upgrades that can completely change a room, there’s almost always something we’re working on.

KC Compton Living is where I share the entire process.

You’ll find approachable DIY projects, room makeovers, new construction upgrades, renovations, house flips, decorating ideas and affordable ways to make a home feel more custom. I share the before-and-afters, what we used, what things cost, what worked—and what I’d probably do differently next time.

And because our home is where we’re raising our family, you’ll find some of real life here too: kids’ spaces, seasonal decorating, holidays, birthday ideas, family favorites and the everyday things happening between projects.

I’m not trying to create a picture-perfect house. I want our home to feel warm, beautiful, functional and lived in—a place that works for our family while still feeling like us.
